Predators exploit the gaps

OKC & Surrounding Areas · In-Home Service
We come to your home, lock down your network, set up the right parental controls, and teach you how to use them — so you can parent confidently in a digital-first world.
Platforms like Roblox and Discord have been repeatedly linked to grooming, sextortion, and abductions. Default settings aren't enough.
Kids are resourceful. Stock controls in iOS, Android, and home routers are trivially defeated without the right configuration.
It's not your job to be a network engineer. It is your job to know your kids are protected — and to know what to watch for.
What We Do
Advanced DNS filtering, guest network isolation, and hardware-level controls on your home router. Everything on your Wi-Fi, protected.
Device-by-device controls for iOS, Android, and Windows. Age-appropriate limits on Roblox, Discord, YouTube, TikTok, and more.
One-on-one walkthrough so you know exactly what's in place, what to watch for, and how to have the conversation with your kids.
Kids grow, apps change, threats evolve. Our Guardian memberships keep your setup tuned — and us a text away.
How It Works
We come to your home or hop on a video call. 30–45 minutes. We look at your setup, talk about your kids' ages and apps, and tell you exactly what would help — no pressure, no upsell.
We handle the technical work. Router configuration, device setup, filtering tools, monitoring where appropriate. Most installs take 2–3 hours on a Saturday.
We sit down with you and show you how everything works. You leave knowing what's protected, what isn't, and what to do if something looks off.
Our Why
We're Brian & Chelsea Bytell — a Christian family in Oklahoma City. Brian is a credentialed security professional (Security+ · ISC2 CC · ISC2 Member · AWS Cloud Practitioner · AAS Cybersecurity). Chelsea is the parent this service is built for — the one who asks the questions, stays up late with the settings, and makes sure you actually understand what's been done.
We started Bytell Family Defense because we got tired of watching our own kids (and their friends) run into things online no kid should see. We don't want another family to be where we were.
We're not a 1-800 number. We'll be in your kitchen, drinking your coffee, and answering your texts six months from now. That's the point.
Questions Parents Ask
Depends on the tool. Some controls are visible (and we actually recommend transparency for older kids — it's part of the parenting conversation). Others run at the network level and aren't visible on the device. We'll talk through the right approach for your family during the consult.
No. Filtering and monitoring are separate. You can block adult content and dangerous apps without logging every message. Many families start there. If you want monitoring later (for younger kids or after an incident), we can layer it in.
That's the part most DIY setups miss. We configure things at multiple layers — router DNS, device-level controls, and where appropriate, app-specific settings — so there's no single "turn it off" switch. Nothing is bulletproof, but this is a lot harder to defeat than the defaults.
Starter Shield is $249. Our most popular package, Family Shield, is $499. Full pricing is on our Services page. Consults are free.
Sometimes. We can often filter on top of your existing router — but older routers and ISP-provided gateways have weak or bypassable parental controls. If an upgrade would help, we'll tell you during the free consult. Hardware is available on any package, always at cost, never marked up. Typical range: $150–$400 for family routers; more for dedicated firewalls. On Starter & Family Shield, install is a $99 add-on; Guardian Plus includes install.
Yes. In-home service anywhere in OKC, Edmond, Norman, Moore, Yukon, Mustang, and Midwest City. Video consult available if you prefer to start there.
You can, and honestly for some families that's the right answer. The gap we fill is the network-level setup, device-level configuration, multi-tool integration, and the parent training — the parts that tend to sit half-finished when you try to DIY it.
